Healing from disease takes time
I’ve learned that healing from a disease takes time. It’s been 5 months since I started Traditional Chinese Medicine to address my psoriasis, an autoimmune disease. This protocol includes drinking a packet of Chinese herbs in liquid form once in the morning and once at night. As a reminder, here is what my skin looked like before treatment.
This was on my neck, inside my ears, collar bone area, inner thighs and was spreading into larger patches. Along with the rash, I was anxious, had brain fog, joint pain, low energy, and an overall feeling of hopelessness.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for Psoriasis
In addition to acupuncture, I have been seeing Diana Hermann at Zi Zai Dermatology. The past 5 months have been so encouraging as the psoriasis flare ups have subsided. There is one tiny spot on the back of my neck that we’re waiting to be completely healed. Diana knows from extensive client experience that if we quit the TCM too soon, the rashes will flare up again and we will have to start over.
While the herbs are not the most pleasant tasting to drink, I can tolerate anything for less than 30 seconds twice a day to have my life back! I’m amazed at how long it’s taken by body to heal. It’s easy to look for quick fixes in the effort to feel better fast. I wasn’t looking to cover the symptoms. I wanted complete healing.
An auto immune disease is when the body sees its own cells as an invader and attacks. Mine was in the form of an attack on skin cells while others struggle with MS or Rheumatoid Arthritis or other diseases. I realize that I will always carry this disease in my body. Diana was very clear in that message from the beginning. It will lay dormant as my body keeps itself in check, but then something will cause a flare up and I will begin a few months of herbs again.
Healing is a relief
Now that summer is here, I sit on my back patio, drink my tea and breath in a sense of peace and calm. I’ve found relief not only from the itch and rash but from the overwhelming anxiousness and severe brain fog that invaded my life every day for over two years.
For those who have not found relief yet from ailments, please don’t give up searching for answers. Look for different health practitioners, get a second opinion, and ask lots of questions.
